Actually the post title doesn’t mean ANYTHING it’s just a phrase I was rolling around in my head that I thought was completely awesome. Anyway… I’ve been working my ass off all over. I’ve been trying to get that big project done before the end of the month, which will not happen, but I’ve been granted an extension, and I’ve pretty much laid the groundwork for getting it done, so that’s something.

I got run over on the apartment thing. Seems we need ‘one rental period’ notice and not ‘thirty days’ so we’re going to be stuck paying for both apartments for May. -_-;

It’s so fucking hot right now, but we’re not going to go to the trouble of installing the AC when we’re going to be moving all essential equipment to the new apartment on like FRIDAY. Luckily it seems to mostly be a DRY heat, so I don’t feel like I’m swimming in my own filth like I do when it’s humid. My Cintiq is like a fucking hotplate though… ~_~;;;

Speaking of which, since my workspace will cease to exist in the next week or so, I thought I’d show everyone a very descriptive picture of it. There’s also a less descriptive but more accurate version.

Wow. It’s about 4pm now, and around two hours ago, the temp dropped like 10-15 degrees in the space of about ten minutes. And since then it’s been getting windier and cooler… A little bit of rain in the air, but nothing I would call ‘precipitation’ that this point. Really weird weather. My sister called and told me they have a bitchin thunderstorm going out her way, so it should be here pretty soon.

So, with the help of the great and mighty Edward_K, I was able to purchase a Wacom Cintiq 21UX back in October. I owe him huge and not just the money I need to pay back. It made a huge difference having it, and I wish I’d used it more in the last couple of months, but it’s been hard keeping enough open desk space. ;o

Last week I got the desk cleared off so I could sit down and really try and do something. I had a particular image in my head, and so I went about trying to execute it.

Now, let me just say, this is maybe the second or third time I’ve actually done more than a little doodle in…well, more years than I can remember…and the first time I’ve tried drawing a hand in any sort of detail, which is hard as hell lemme tell you. ;3

Anyway, enough excuses…

I’d say it’s turned out pretty good so far. Hand looks like crap though, and I’ll have to redraw it probably, since it doesn’t look like it’s gripping the gun tight enough. (Also it would probably be good to finish drawing the gun)

I would have absolutely no chance of drawing even THIS well if it weren’t for ComicStudioEX 4. It really is a miraculous piece of software, and actually makes me a better artist than I am, with all of its helpful drawing aids. I’d like to go into detail on some of that at another time. In fact, after I get set up in the new apartment, I wanted to do a podcast where I discuss the software. Prompted by a short discussion I had about it with my cousin when she was here the other day.

Anyway, practice practice practice!!!

The season of...something.

So, I was supposed to go to my grandmother’s for Easter dinner today, which I was doing solely for the benefit of my cousin Ashley who wanted to hang out with me. (I am just that awesome, yes.) Of course, when my mother called to find out when we were supposed to be there, and if someone could swing by here to pick me up, my uncle told her “There’s no reason he can’t walk.” Gee, I don’t know. I can probably think of a FEW.

Needless to say, a lesser man would slash his tires and leave a similar message on his windshield with a diamond-tipped glass scribe. The true evil genius however, hides scorpions in the glovebox.

Oh well, at least— knowing this family —I had already made a contingency plan with my cousin to just come by afterwords if I don’t make it.

Add this to things like the time my sister overheard this same uncle saying something about me being too poor to buy food when I called to harangue my mother for forgetting to pick me up for the 4th of July cookout a couple years ago, and I’m really running out of reasons to interact with the majority of my extended family. That’s okay, the cool ones know who they are.

Moving along... (Get it?)

Yes, you heard me right. I’m going to be moving soon. Yeah, I was shocked, too. :P

See, as I said a couple times before, my father and I share an apartment. I’m not sure whether or not I mentioned that he works next door though.

Anyway, the business just recently changed hands, along with the building, and one of the two apartments above the store became available. Basically, we were confronted with the prospect of a nicer, larger apartment, for $70 less a month than we’re paying now. (About 10% less)

Considering we had been thinking about the possibility of moving a little farther away than next door (Namely California) this seemed like a less-extreme alternative that fulfilled some of our needs.

I like it. I finally had the opportunity to see it (After we had already cut a check for part of the deposit and agreed to rent it come May 1st) a couple days ago. It wasn’t as new-looking as I imagined, but it was nicer than this apartment, and with a little work could be really incredible.

Don’t get me wrong, I like our current apartment that we have been living in for eight years, and I will certainly miss the ten foot ceilings, but it fundamentally fails to suit our needs at this point.

My biggest complaints are that it’s no longer big enough for our space requirements. Also, “The wiring is sub-standard, it is completely inadequate for our power needs.” And I want to send all the other tenants to hell. They don’t seem to grasp concepts like ‘noise’, ‘time’, ‘common sense’, ‘common courtesy’, ’sobriety’, and ‘walking’.

The new place has wood floors throughout. It doesn’t have high ceilings, but it has a dropped ceiling, so we can run cables. It has SEVERAL outlets on EVERY WALL, almost all of which are grounded. And there are more than enough circuits to meet our power needs. The livingroom is at least as big as our current one. The bedroom is much bigger. The ’second bedroom’ is a medium-sized windowless room in the middle of the apartment that I will likely use for storage. The kitchen is much larger and has a ton of counter space and real cabinets. The bathroom is probably twice the size of our current one. There’s only one other tenant, and the only walls our apartments share is the back wall of the second bedroom, and I think the back wall of the bathroom. So noise will likely not be a problem.

There’s a large common room at the top of the stairs that the front doors to the apartments are in, so if I fix up my bicycle, I’ll have somewhere to put it. There’s also a nice big closet in the livingroom, a big closet in the bedroom, and a linen closet outside the bathroom.

All in all, a good deal. I’m really looking forward to moving in. We should have the keys on the 1st of May.

Some stuff.

Well, for starters, let me just say that I’m having fun and keeping busy. I’ve got various things I’m doing, all of which— while not entirely fun —are not soul-obliterating.

I’ve got work I’m doing, and a rather ambitious undertaking that will net me some $$$

I’ve nearly finished subtitling the movie 20th Century Boys - Chapter One, which is totally fucking awesome.

I’m still waiting on a few tools to really get underway on building the CNC machine, after which things are going to get interesting.

I’ve been drawing a bit, now that I’ve actually cleared my desk enough to get my hands on my Cintiq ;<

Oh yeah, and I might be moving.

Order is restored.

Communist forces have used the confusion created by April Fool’s day and the possibility of an attack from the Conficker worm to take over popular Japanese media bittorrent site Tokyo Toshokan, renaming it Běijīng Túshūguǎn and changing the site layout and language accordingly.

It is unknown at this time if any action is being taken to resolve the situation, but there are rumors that a joint operation between Counter-Terrorist group MITHRIL and the JGSDF Special Counter-Terrorism Task Force may be in the planning stages.

The site serves countless users daily and is the primary source for fan translations or so-called ‘fansubs’ of Japanese entertainment.

So there you have it, kids. We’re in a world of shit.
