Just a few things

Got a bunch of stuff I'm working on, and I'm kind of stressed out, but I wanted to talk about a few things real quick.

First of all, RightStuf International is my new favorite place to buy R1 DVDs. I went from 20 DVDs to 75 in $250. They had a sale on a bunch of Geneon/Pioneer stuff; 10 for $50 or 25 for $100. I was in for $250, everything shipped free. I'll detail it all in an upcoming post.

When you're getting DVDs for $4 a piece, you grab stuff you're even a little interested in. In this case, I grabbed all of Haibane Renmei. I've only watched the first volume so far, but it's REALLY good. And of course, it's by Yoshitoshi ABe. Among his other titles, they also had Lain, Niea_7 and Texhnolyze in the sale.

I was even able to snag all of X TV for Ibuki's birthday! :3 It was a MASSIVE sale. And apparently, they're always having one sale or another, and their prices on a lot of older stuff is under ten bucks anyway.

Speaking of DVDs, I've watched the first two volumes of Kamichu!, which is nothing short of thoroughly charming. I recommend it.

Current aural stimuli: Dolce Triade, Last Exile OST 1 and 2. (From the sale!)

Just watched Black Lagoon ep 2 this morning, (No HD raw available yet) and ohmygod. This show just gets better and better. I love it. It is my TOP PICK for the season, and I'll be posting a short review of it over on the GPMoD Magazine site shortly. (Which, of course, means 'some time in the distant future because I'm lazy.')

Found out something interesting, too. HD raws transcode to PSP video beautifully. I guess it's because downsizing from 1280x720 to 368x208 kills all the compression noise and artifacts, so your re-encode doesn't compound them. Also, it looks awesome on the Giant WallScreen of Doom. (The original HD video, not the PSP one...that I have to state that because I know someone would ask is a failing on our parts, at a fundamental level.)

I haven't been getting much done on the site, but that doesn't mean all my time is spent idle.

I've shot over 1500 photos with my new camera and produced a large number of different pieces of artwork I hope to be able to sell.

I have acquired several Range Murata artbooks, a couple of which are quite rare.

I've played numerous PS2 games that kick ass, and I wish to impart their awesomeness unto my readers. (Prime example being Kidou Senshi Gundam: Climax U.C.)

I've seen a lot of anime I'd like to recommend. (Including Tales of Phantasia, Rec, Gyagu Manga Biyori, Akagi, and Noein, just to name a few.)

And I'd also like to remind you to check out some stuff I've found awesome, but maybe slipped by. Like Miwa Shirow's kickass manga, Dogs. (Don't let the name fool you, this ain't about some poodle, kids.)

So yeah, I'll get around to blabbing about that stuff sooner or later...

But in the meantime, I'd like to remind you all to click my ads and help me keep the site afloat. (Help I really need right now, as I'm a month and a half overdue on the hosting. tasukete kure!) The ads aren't the only thing, mind you. You can also help by simply following these links next time you or someone you know wants to buy something from Play-Asia. And of course, if anyone you know needs webhosting... Tell them to come talk to me. I can even give them a discount on hosting with Dreamhost, who I can say, with certainty are the greatest webhost on Earth. (Know any others that'd let you get away with not paying them for a little while? ^^;)

And don't forget that the giveaway is coming up! I'll finally get that donate button up, and you can donate to the Baka-chan! Every donation gets some GPMoD pins and a card, and every $5 increment gives you an entry in the giveaway! Just my way of giving back to people who support me.

Well, as many of you already know from my ranting and raving, I got my Eureka seveN Volume 1 box not too long ago. It was DVD Volume 1, UMD Volume 1, and Series box 1, and I got it for $19.90. Gotta love Play-Asia's sales. I love Eureka seveN. Great series.

A couple days ago, I had the pleasure of getting my grubby paws on a copy of the PS2 game, I was going to post some videos, but I want to hold off until I get out of the initial 'training' phase of the game, so I can really show it off. So far, I really like reffing. the game dynamics have a good feel to them, and I like how they handled your ability to 'read' the Tra-Par waves. The graphics look awesome, too. That's always a plus.

So, for those of you waiting for me to cap some Eureka seveN - TR1: New Wave vids, you'll have to wait a wee bit longer.
